Each year millions of visitors flock to West Yorkshire for its stunning countryside, historic cities and industrial heritage, and Wood Hall Hotel & Spa is perfectly placed to take it all in.

Historically the most prominent industry in West Yorkshire is textile manufacture, which is why the landscape – even now, three centuries on – is characterised by weavers’ cottages, woollen mills, factories and canals, built to transport raw materials and finished products. Although some of the bigger buildings stand empty and derelict, others are now luxury apartments or UNESCO World Heritage Sites (such as Saltaire).

The metropolitan county of northern England is quite the picture postcard, famed for its wild moorland, rugged coastline, spa towns and Brontë attractions, which are in fact the county’s biggest tourist draw.

When it comes to vibrant cities, Bradford offers Victorian industrial heritage, grand parks and a grand cathedral, while Leeds boasts museums, galleries, restaurants and shopping centres. If you are more of a country bumpkin than a city slicker, then the tranquillity and rural charm of the peaks, moors and dales will be probably more your thing.

From the Pennine trails and cycle ways to the three national parks, it is also worth trying the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, National Trust site Hardcastle Crags and certified RSPB area Fairburn Ings for a memorable day out.
